Dying to Live Cover Zombie Books

My most recent foray into zombiefied literature is Dying to Live: A Novel of Life Among the Undead by Kim Paffenroth. The book follows one survivor, Jonah Caine, a young male, as he travels across baron wastelands in attempt to stray from the undead.

A little further into the book, Jonah encounters a group of survivors much like himself, together with whom he helps build a new community, hoping to restore shades of their former lives. The group, led by two other men, Jack and Milton, however, soon have war waged upon them by yet another group of survivors, though the term bandits or nightmares themselves may be more fitting.

Overall, the book is able to capture a real sense of urgency and terror amongst the survivors, and the detail Paffenroth puts into every chapter is absolutely brilliant. Be aware, the book is quite violent, so keep away if that’s not what you’re in the market for.

Not the best zombie book I’ve read, but by no means one I regret reading either. I’d give it a solid 7.5/10, and recommend it to any genre fans.
